my mother, my cat and me

adjusting to life as we now live it

As you probably noticed, I have been remiss in updating my blog with new posts. When I lost my job, I thought, “Hey, I can spend more time on my blog!” It hasn’t worked out that way. Between applying for jobs, caring for my mother, transitioning my mother to my brother’s home, and my health issues, life has been a bit of a roller coaster ride over the past few months and blogging has been relegated to the bottom of the to-do list.

I have made some decisions. I am selling my condo, which will give me both some money to live on until I get a job and greater flexibility in where I look for a job. One of the reasons I decided to sell is that the space just feels too big for me! I know, most people want more space and 900 square feet doesn’t sound like a lot, but to me, it is. I want to go back to something smaller and easier to keep clean. I want to simplify, so I’ve been spending time cleaning and decluttering.

I’m actually excited to start with a clean slate. I’ve been able to pick up some small consulting jobs, which have been fun. Though eventually, I need something more sustained, it’s been great to jump in on projects. It has given me time to get my health back and to pick up my old hobbies, like reading and knitting, that have fallen by the wayside over the past year.

I also plan to finish two books that I have started writing. The first is a children’s book based on the dreamed adventures of my cats. If you’re an illustrator – I need you! The second will draw from blog posts to focus on my mother and aging. I hope to pop back over to the blog and let you know when they will be published!

Another activity is to pick up some artwork activities – I do a bit of drawing and hope to do more. I will probably try to sell some pieces as well, so that’s more news I hope to share at some point. Friends who have seen my little efforts have indicated that someone may be interested in buying prints.

I have loved writing this blog and maybe someday I’ll continue blogging. I hope you have enjoyed reading my ramblings over the years. For now, Toby the cat and I will say goodbye and best wishes!
